Guitar and Bass Lessons
Meet Willie DEI am a guitar teacher, singer-songwriter, and guitarist based in Richmond, Virginia. A graduate of the VCU Jazz Studies program, I help students of all skill levels fast-track their progress, avoid bad habits, and overcome the frustrations of learning. My approach focuses on playing to each student’s strengths by building a repertoire of songs they love. Beyond guitar, bass, and ukulele fundamentals, my approach incorporates elements of music theory, songwriting, singing, ear training, and more. I believe music should be joyful, so I balance hard work and discipline with plenty of fun and lightheartedness.
I perform throughout Virginia and beyond as a solo-acoustic act and fronting my own band, playing rock music infused with folk, blues, and jazz. I also work as a guitarist for hire, covering a diverse range of styles for weddings, private events, and festivals. Over my career, I’ve released three albums alongside my latest EP, Sifaka Pt. 1 (2026).
